Before we embark on this internet marketing journey, I want to acknowledge the person that made it all possible. Little is said about him in the mainstream media for reasons unknown to me.
Philip Emeagwali is a native of Nigeria, in the Biafran region of Onitsa, among the Igbo people (their way of saying Hebrew).
As a young boy in the early 1970’s, he came up during civil war times when the Biafran War was at its peak. After spending 2 years in a refugee camp, he joined the Biafran army at the age of 14 (1969AD).
In 1970 at age 15, he was nicknamed “Calculus” after he published a 568 page book on “Infinitessimal Calculus and also invented what he called a “Calculo Analog Computer”- which technically, makes it the first personal computer.
Three years later, he received a four-year university scholarship to go to school in Oregon-United States.
In 1974 at the age of 19 years, he conceptualized a super-computer network of 64000 individual computers suspended in hyperspace, at nodes 3000 miles apart all around the globe. He called it the “Hyperball International Network of Computers” – today we call it the “world wide web” or “The Internet”.
With this network of computers, it became possible to solve previous mathematical problems at 3.1 billion calculations per second (3.1 gHz). This achievement earned him the “Gordon Bell Prize“, which is the highest honor in computing (usually awarded to teams).
This made sending information across the world much faster; weather forecasts were more accurate, and life in general became a little more predictable.
The internet has changed our way of life for the better: Email, television, radio, phone calls, magazines, newspapers and thereby most sources of information are delivered almost instantaneously around the world because of the genius of one African man.
Dr. Philip Emeagwali is an engineer, physicist, mathematician, astronaut and an avid tennis player among other things. But we have come to know him as “The Father Of The Internet“!
So anytime you send a text message, an email, open a website, watch a video or use social media (like facebook, twitter, etc) online, please acknowledge and say a Big “THANK YOU” to the Genius of Our Time, who made it all possible.
THANK YOU DR. PHILIP EMEAGWALI!
